Describe the coercive acts. Explain why the colonists called them the intolerable acts.
The acts took away self-government and historic rights from Massachusetts. They closed down the Boston port, imposed their own rules, had British soldiers housed inside of American houses, punished anyone who they saw fir for the tea party incident, and basically did whatever they wanted. They were called intolerable by the Americans because that's what they were for the American population, intolerable.
