The intolerable acts of 1774 was punishment for the Boston tea party. It contained 3 major laws.  1. It closed down the harbor until the colonists paid for the ruined tea. 2.The quartering act where they forced the colonists to house, clothe, and feed the British solders 3. It allowed the solders to do anything they want because they were not tried in the colonies for any crimes the may have committed.
